Research Fellow, 1780-1880

Daniel Blackie received his PhD from the University of Helsinki in 2010. His research and teaching interests lie in disability studies and he has taught, written, and presented on topics ranging from social policy and media representations of disability to the lived experiences of disabled people past and present. As a member of the project team, Daniel is working with David M. Turner on a monograph about disability in the British coalfields during the period 1780–1880. In his free time, Daniel likes to hike, cycle, and find places where he can enjoy traditional British pies.
