Prof Anne Borsay (Swansea University)

Anne Borsay was Professor of Healthcare and Medical Humanities in the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University. She was a social and cultural historian of medicine and health with subsidiary interests in literature and the visual arts, and her specialist research focused on nursing and midwifery as well as disability. Her publications included Disability and Social Policy in Britain since 1750: A History of Exclusion (2005); Medical Records for the South Wales Coalfield, c.1890-1948, with Sara Knight (2007); and Disabled Children: Contested Caring, 1850-1979, edited with Pamela Dale (2012). Anne was on the editorial board of journal, Disability and Society, and was a member of the Wellcome Trust’s Expert Review Group for Medical History and Humanities.
